A little over a month ago I did do a blog on Tips to keep your Skin Fresh and Healthy, today's blog I wanted to focus mainly on the daily cleansing regiment. Feel free to review both these blogs and then use the information to implement it into your skin care routine for overall good health and well being.
As crazy as it may sound, I didn't learn much of any sorts on a skin care routine until my late 30's! I know right?! I've always had pretty good skin and never took consideration that I needed to do anything to it, to ensure its longevity. So when I decided to venture into direct sales with a company called Younique, I knew that not only did I need to learn for myself but I needed to educate myself in turn educating my clients as well as my Younique team.
So ladies, here is the low down on the daily skin care routine. No matter what your age or skin type, having a regular cleansing regimen everyday is critical for good skin health. When I invested my time in learning how to start this process I was confused on which order I was to do things and when. Well today's blog is just that, a simple what to do, in what order and why its good for your skin and although it might seem like a lot of work at first, it takes just minutes in reality and can leave you (and your skin!) feeling fresh and nourished.

So in order your skin care regiment should be as follows:
Why: Cleansing removes make up, toxins and dirt and helps to open up your pores.
When: Twice daily, morning and evening.
How: Use a mild cleanser. In my first blog on skin care I shared with you Younique's cleansing product called Awake, which is what I currently use. Stay clear from using regular soap and fragrant soaps. These soaps are high in alkaline and will dry out your skin and the fragrance soaps can stimulate oily skin into producing more oil. Using clean hands, use your cleanser in the morning to get rid of oils that built up overnight and in the evening to get rid of makeup. Rinse thoroughly and wipe your face with a clean towel.
Toning
Why: Toner cleans the face further, gets rid of excess cleaners, cools your face down, hydrates and nourishes. It also closes the pores and tightens the skin, enhancing cell renewal and refining the texture of your skin.
When: Twice daily, morning and evening right after cleansing.
How: Currently and until Younique comes out with a Toning product (hint hint Younique) I use a botanical toning mist by Aveda. When searching for a toner look for ones that have Witch Hazel and other vitamins and minerals good for your skin. Apply toner to a clean cotton round then to face or if in a spritz - spritz on to face and neck after cleansing. I personally love the spritz, in fact if your toner doesn't come in a spritz bottle you can find small spritzers at places such as
Sally's Beauty Supply.

Exfoliate
Why: Exfoliating removes the old, dead skin cells. Exfoliating leaves your skin looking fresh and smooth.
When: You should exfoliate at least once in two weeks, but not more than twice a week.
How: There are four ways in which you can exfoliate: Granular, Cream, Enzyme and Chemical. Personally I have only done the Granular, which is creamy lotion with little beads in it. I have tried a variety of exfoliating products but haven't found one I am in love with yet. Very simple to do, using a wet sponge message the exfoliating cream on to your face. Rinse thoroughly and wipe with a clean towel.

Moisturising
Why: Moisturizing helps the skin to maintain its normal moisture balance and puts lost moisture back into your skin.
When: You should use a daily moisturizer, and a sun block as well.
How: When applying your moisturizer avoid putting it around your eyes; you should use a special eye cream for that purpose because the skin is different. I personally use Younique Brilliant moisturizer and come September 2014 Younique will offer a new eye serum which I will add to my daily regiment. With clean hands or clean cotton round apply moisturizer all over face and neck.
